Plans

Plans for you!

Plans for you to use as much as you please. This may be updated anywhere from everyday to every month. Please notify me if I haven't remembered to do that as well as I should. Thanks a bunch, me.

Plan 1:
Supplies

1. saw of some sort
2.pine wood derby car- ready to make and paint
3.paint- 2 contrasting colors
4. masking tape
5. weight (official- can be found at hobby shops like hobby lobby, MJDesigns, Michaels, etc.)
6.drill press
7. screws (for wieght)
8. screw driver
9. sand paper
Steps
step 1: cut out your pine wood derby car- try to make it aero-dynamic. sand the car down until smooth(i hate this step!)
step 1.5: use the drill press to make a space on the bottom of the car fit for the weight. you can put away the drill press if you need to
step 2: Paint one color and let it dry.
step 3: put one or two strips of masking tape ( measured for car length.) from the nose to the rear(partially under car)
step 4: use the other contrasting color to paint the rest of the car. let dry.
carefully peel all masking tape strips off of the car. you now have a painted car!
step five- easy! in stall the weight in the space you made for it. screw in the screws, and you're done w/ this step.

You may put in the wheels by just putting the axles THROUGH the hole in the wheels, and put in the wheel slots on your car. If you are doing a BSA car derby- important: NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY USE THE AXLES GIVEN IN THE OFFICIAL BSA KIT!
to help win in the race ( yes, this is legal when it comes to bsa races) put graphite on the axles and rotate the wheels as much as possible. this makes the race easier. Cool, eh? this is one of my favorite projects. HAVE FUN!

NEW!   MUSIC STAND

1- 6"x6' board
1- Gallon or so can of polyurethane stain
Some steel wool
Skil saw
Sander
Pencil
tape meaaure (always!)
1- set of 4 decorative hinges
1- Latch lock (optional)
Staple gun, nail gun, or good ol' hammer and nails.

First, cut out a rectangle (back of music stand). Say, about 18" or so X about 1'6". Then cut out a piece the same length, but only about 2" wide. Staple or nail it onto the bottom horizontally. Then, cut out another rectangle. This tiem, cut it into two triangles. mount each about 6" from each other and the edges vertically on their hypotenuses using the screws provided for the hinges. the triangles should fold in next to each other, the sides flush to the stand. Sand anything that overlaps or just don't fit. If it really don't fit, use the saw, then the sander. Make sure everything is sanded down, and that you MARK MEASUREMENTS LIGHTLY WITH A PENCIL!!!!  Nail the latch on the triangles so that they can fold in and lock. You may want to stain it first. Remember to let it dry, then rub it down with steel wool, then re-apply. Darker stains are best for this project. You can cut designs out, or any other creative ideas that come to you. Just unfold the triangle backs, set on a table, and VOILA! PRESTO! a portable, easy to use, handy music stand that looks nice, discreet, small, and is very useful!
